Text Box: Local donor commemorates his wife through contribution After years at his wife’s side, Dick Shaffer held her hand and kissed her for the last time recently. His beloved wife, Mary Ruth, passed away after her suffering with Huntington’s Disease. The devoted husband wanted his wife’s wonderful to spirit live on. At the 2007 HDSA State Conference, Dick made a generous donation of $10,000 to the Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence at Indiana University. His donation will be used to pay for services provided to patients and families who come to the Center. Dick, we are sorry for your loss. We greatly appreciate that you have kept the Center in mind.
